On The Topic of Mini Essays

Today I stumbled upon a concept under the title of mini essay. The concept is that of writing a short entry on a topic that one would like to further understand or study. It is, in essence, a diary entry one writes for a topic. These essays serve to further cement ones understanding and even improve retention. They may also require further research and provide an opportunity to dig into a topic with a bit more gusto than may otherwise feel required. The idea is to stick strongly to the topic and provide all relevant content without requiring extra effort of the supposed reader. With these constraints and the idea to be brief the Mini Essay offers a host of benefits for a learning individual.

This mini essay on mini essays is a bit on the nose but what better way to begin than by beginning. The thing that has drawn me into writing mini essays is the “mini” part of it. In the requiring of a short writing I can both free myself of the challenge of larger writing and also challenge myself to not be as wordy as I tend to be. Though the above paragraph is a bit silly in an intentional usage of wording and eschewing of proper grammar I found it to be an excellent way to start the process of writing mini essays.

As I conclude this essay I hope I will continue to write these. It feels good to put words onto paper and use the brain to form sequences of coherent thought. The benefits as listed are sure to continue as I continue to write.

PS. Building this into an Obsidian system to make a connected chain of knowledge is a topic to be written on another time, though one worth mentioning here as a footnote.
